Our tour guide for the boat was Giovanni and he was very personable and had vocalized several years (since 2007) working and driving the boats which helped me feel comfortable with the ride. If you have time I highly suggest making time for an airboat ride. Also, the boat is not too fast or bumpy at all, so don’t be afraid of that (I was worried). It was a bit chilly with the wind so we didn’t get to see many alligators but we did see some! The swamp is amazing and really a unique experience I highly recommend. The airboat tour felt like lit was about an hour (I could be wrong) and they provide you with ear plugs to protect hearing from the large fan. The last tour of the day goes out at 4pm and tickets were $30 each (make sure to bring cash to tip your airboat driver!). There are no airboat tours that operate within the actual national park, it the park does provide 3 operating airboats, Everglades Safari being one of the 3. If you're in search of a family attraction: go for it!Īfter spending the day at the Everglades National Park, we drove almost an hour north to do an airboat swamp tour. If you want to get the experience of the real Everglades: avoid this place (and the others along Hwy 41). I would have preferred to keep it with the boat tour, but all passengers are forced after the tour to visit their "museum" (not so interesting and outdated), to assist an alligator "show" in a covered amphitheater (where some interesting information was given about alligators) and then led to a place where one can hold a baby alligator in his arms (against payment of course). On the 30 minutes tour we had the opportunity to spot alligators, anhinga and plenty of herons. Don't expect the feeling of the real Everglades, but rather a fairground attraction.īut I have to admit that the boat guides well trained and gave excellent information about the Everglades. We bought our tickets in advance and arrived early in the morning to avoid the largest crowds.Īlthough I'm no advocate of these noisy, polluting and eco-unfriendly airboats, I wanted to give it a try as these tours are worldwide (erroneously) promoted in association with the Everglades. It was okay, no need to go back though.Located outside the Everglades NP, along the Tamiami Trail, this "Safari Park" is a perfectly organised attraction park. The park itself is very nice, I enjoyed the fact they let people interact with alligators so people can see they are not aggressive animals. You always see those crazy fan boats on TV, well this was very tame. We saw close to fifteen before we even left the park, I couldn't believe we just didn't see any gators in the wild! We were so disappointed the boat didn't go fast. We saw while out on the airboat (which seemed rather short) we saw only about 3 alligators. We were so excited to go on a fast airboat ride, and see a lot of gators. Safari Park was just on the side of the road, and it was really nice, very big. The Everglades are nothing like NOLA I realized. I have never been to the Everglades, the only thing I had been to that I thought would be similar is New Orleans. It was about an hour drive from the port, maybe even 45 minutes. It was included in the airport transfer, so we got to get off the ship super early, and go to The Everglades. We booked it through Carnival, on our last day at the Port of Miami.
